Lead Linq Official SMS Sending Checklist

Maximise your SMS results while staying compliant and protecting your deliverability.

Follow this checklist before every campaign!

---

Customer List Check

[ ] Only message your own customers, leads, or people who have opted in.

[ ] Remove old or inactive contacts where possible (over 12 months cold = higher risk).

Message Content

[ ] Hook first — Start your SMS with an exciting offer or important news.

[ ] Identify your business clearly early in the message (it doesn't have to be the first line).

[ ] Keep it simple and natural — avoid spammy words like "WIN BIG", "FREE!!!", "GUARANTEED".

[ ] Use one or zero links, and prefer branded links if including one (not shortened)

[ ] Include clear opt-out instructions ("Reply OUT to stop").

[ ] Change up messages - use a split test to send out 2-5 variations of the message - you will be able to test what works as well as protect your sending reputation and not look like an automation

Opt-out Automation

[ ] Auto-unsubscribe contacts who reply "OUT" using automation workflows in Lead LinQ.

This is better than STOP as providers recognise STOP as an opt out keyword.

[ ] Manually unsubscribe anyone who opts out through other means within 5 business days (sooner is better).

Sending Setup

[ ] Use Drip Mode — Use drip mode in the workflow / automation, not at the stage when you are putting customers into the automation. Most importantly - Do not send all messages at once.

[ ] Recommended sending speed: 1 SMS per minute per SIM (e.g., 4 SIMs = 4 SMS per minute).

[ ] Schedule campaigns to send during polite hours (typically 9 AM–7 PM local time).

[ ] Always test send to yourself before launching the full campaign.

Legal/Compliance

[ ] Only message people with a clear prior relationship or documented consent.

[ ] Be prepared to prove consent if ever requested (e.g., form entries, bookings, purchase records).

Lead LinQ Tip:

Following this checklist keeps your brand protected, maximises your SMS deliverability, and ensures you stay compliant with Australian spam regulations

BONUS : Chat GPT Prompt

Copy this prompt to help you generate a high converting sms for your business.

I want you to help me write a conversational, friendly SMS (or 2 SMSs) to send to my old customer database to reactivate them.

Here’s what you need to know first:

  • My name is [insert your name].

  • My business name is [insert business name].

  • The deal/promo/offer I want to mention is [insert deal details].

  • The offer starts [insert start date/time] and finishes [insert end date/time].

  • What I want the customer to do after reading the SMS is [insert desired action, e.g., 'come visit', 'call us', 'reply YES', 'drop by'].

Please keep the SMS casual, short, and feeling like it's from a real person — not like a marketing ad.

✅ If the message naturally flows better split over 2 SMSs, that's fine — just remind me to add a small wait step between sending them (like 1-2 minutes).
✅ The total SMS length doesn't have to stick to 160 characters exactly — being natural is more important.
✅ Focus more on re-connection and curiosity ("we miss you", "something new is happening", "we'd love to see you") rather than hard selling.
✅ Keep the Call To Action super light, based on what I want the customer to do.
✅ Make sure the suggestions generate intrigue and sound like an easy conversation I'd have with a customer I haven't seen in a while.

Please give me 3-4 options to pick from!"
